Our History

The name "Little Bear House" is inspired by my two boys - the rambunctious, wild expression and whole-hearted love that they are. Our home is very much a "little bear house," disheveled in their play and imagination, filled to the brim with their creativity and found things, and in choosing a name, I could not think of anything more apt to honor them and the family my husband and I have grown.

My pattern works are also indicative of who I am - modern with a hint of vintage. You can usually find me scouring the booths at our local antique shops (one or both boys in tow), collecting unique knick-knacks or useful items to warm up our home.

Culture also plays a vital role in my pattern work. Primarily of Hungarian descent, I infuse a little bit of Hungary in each pattern, utilizing age-old motifs and elements of cultural Hungarian embroidery or of Hungary's rich counted cross-stitch history.

You will also find here my second creative love: painting. As a creative person, it only made sense to allow my artwork a small peice in the "House of Little Bear," giving it a place to be discovered and enjoyed - even if only that.
